Wandr is a free, text-first social app for meeting people around the world through shared activities — football, gaming, travel, hangouts, road trips, and more. Pick a country, find people who live there, and connect over things you both love. Post what you're up to, or join a Huddle — a live group text room for an activity. No ads. No algorithm. No endless feed. Just people connecting by what they enjoy. Works on Android and any browser.
How do Huddles actually work in practice — like is there a time limit on them, and what happens once the activity wraps up, do they just close automatically?
@suna229648 Good question, So basically when you make a Huddle you pick how many people can join (up to 10), so it stays small instead of turning into a giant group chat.
They're not meant to stick around forever ,each one expires on its own after a bit (about 2 days for most stuff, longer for travel since people plan that ahead). Once the time's up it just closes and disappears, so the feed doesn't fill up with old dead chats.
And you're not stuck with it either , if you started it you can close it whenever, and anyone can leave anytime.
Honestly the whole idea is that they're temporary , you spin one up for something, meet a few people, and it fades out after. Keeps everything feeling fresh instead of cluttered.
How does Wandr keep Huddles safe from spam or bad actors, especially since it's text-first and free with no ads to fund moderation?
@mira1455108 Good question! Right now you can block anyone (they instantly vanish from your view) and report posts or profiles. Everyone signs up with a real account, it's 18+ only, and Huddles have small member limits so they can't turn into spam floods. Old posts expire too, so nothing sketchy sticks around.
I'll be real though , it's brand new and it's just me, so there's no big moderation team or AI filter yet. For now it leans on block/report and keeping groups small, and stronger spam protection is next on my list as it grows.
On the no-ads thing , I'd rather keep it free without selling people's data or spamming ads, and figure out the money side later. Still working that out honestly!

love how the country-first filter cuts right past the usual profile swipe carousel, makes it feel like you actually have somewhere to go when you open the app.

Joined a Huddle for a 5-a-side pickup and actually found two guys going the same evening, no fuss. The country filter makes it feel way less random than other apps I've tried.

The text-first approach is such a smart call here, and the Huddle rooms make it feel like an actual hangout instead of yet another feed to scroll past. Love that it works in any browser too, no app lock-in nonsense.
