I built Wallet Sum because I needed it.

I used MoneyLover and WalletApp for years — I liked that both had a web version. That was fine until I got married. Suddenly I needed to manage a shared budget, and the options were either missing the right features or charging a fee just to share an account.

Late 2024, I decided to learn React and build something myself. AI helped a lot with the code, and I shipped the first version.

The app is deliberately simple. Instead of making you set up categories from scratch, I pre-loaded the most common account types and expense categories. You can log a transaction the moment you open it. The hardest part of personal finance is the manual entry — it's hard to keep up with it — so I cut down every screen to make that as quick as possible.

I'm still building. There's a clear roadmap for what comes next.

Wallet Sum has no paywalls. Every current feature is free, and future features will be too. No subscription required, no upsells — the only limit is the number of wallets you can create.

I'm putting this out not because it's finished — it's missing a lot. I want to find out whether it solves anyone else's problem, or just mine. And honestly, I'd love for it to eventually earn some income too.
