Hi! We've implemented a few WhatsApp bots a while ago for both commercial and fun uses. As for we've seen during those jobs, if you're not a big company who can allow to subscribe for official WhatsApp API - you can either use a suspicious unofficial SaaS solutions that providing WhatsApp API or host your bot youself. The business sometime didn't want to use a suspicious SaaS soltuion, because it's customers data. But we didn't want to host the bot and write it myself, because almost all libraries use Javascript and we're more python-guys :) So during those project we created unofficial WhatsApp HTTP API that suited the projects. With that you can start your own WhatsApp HTTP API and write a bot with just a few clicks (actually, commands)! It provides two versions - free one (Core) and available via donations (Plus). The idea behind the project is not to get paid, but rather to help other people who maintain really big projects and don't get paid for it. You know, it's really hard to get donations for small open source projects. So we've decided to publish WAHA, get some cash and redistribute it across other developers (to projects like one of the engines that WAHA use for the library, small node js libraries, to python software foundation, etc).
