A podcast recorder and editor for iPhone and iPad. Just press record and talk. After each take it evens out the levels, makes voices clearer and shortens the long pauses. You see one timeline, where you can trim each take, move it or change its volume, whilst underneath it's properly multi-track. On-device transcripts, sound pads, and saving as audio or a video with captions. It bleeps rude words by itself and lets you record as many takes as you like. There's no account and no subscription.

Hello, I'm Kat. I built Waffle Iron for people who'd rather make a podcast than learn audio editing. It started when my daughter wanted to make one and every app we tried let her down. The proper ones recorded over the bit she was listening back to, and the simple ones were a bit ridiculous. So we built our own over a weekend and she recorded her podcast on it.
Waffle Iron is that weekend, polished... for months. You only ever see one timeline of blocks, but each one is a real multi-track recording, and every take comes back levelled and tidied. It writes down what you said on the device, so you can find a bit by searching for what you said, or split a recording at a word. When it's done, save it as an MP3 or a video with captions.
There are even customisable soundboards, because sometimes a drum roll makes that intro punchier.
No account, Waffle Iron doesn't upload your recordings, and it's a one-off price. I'd love to hear what you'd make with it, and what would get in your way.
