VoiceReader turns any web page into audio. Hit play and it reads the article aloud in natural voices, highlighting each sentence and picking up where you left off. It reads the article, not the menus and sidebars. Free forever on your browser's own voices: no API key, no account, nothing leaves your computer. Optional neural voices are pay-as-you-go, never a subscription. Built it because every read-aloud tool I tried wanted a subscription, a sign-up, or my browsing history.

@safiyeodeu Thank you, that means a lot 🙏 Yeah — it started as a scratch-my-own-itch thing. The menu/sidebar noise was the dealbreaker for me with every other reader; hearing "Home · About · Subscribe · Cookie settings" before the actual article drove me up the wall. So it hunts down the real content block and reads that. Curious — do you listen to articles while doing something else, or read along with the highlight? I keep going back and forth on which mode to optimize for.
