Hey Product Hunt! š
I'm Abdullah, the maker of Vodstack.
I kept paying per-minute for hosted video platforms just to put a handful of videos online and I never really owned my content or controlled where it lived. So I built Vodstack: an open-source, self-hosted video streaming platform you run on your own infrastructure.
You upload a video, and Vodstack handles the whole pipeline for you:
š¬ Transcodes it into an adaptive-bitrate HLS ladder (240p ā 2160p) with ffmpeg
š Protects playback with HMAC signed URLs + an nginx edge cache (built for real traffic)
šļø Ships a React admin panel drag-drop upload, live encode progress, analytics
ā¶ļø Includes a rich player with chapters, thumbnails, subtitles & quality menus
š§° Comes with a TypeScript SDK, webhooks, auto-captions (WhisperX) and in video search
š³ Spins up with a single docker compose command
It's MIT-licensed and free your videos, your server, your rules.
I'd love your honest feedback what would make this genuinely useful for your projects? And if you find it interesting, a ā on GitHub means a lot š
