The problem I kept hitting: most “YNAB alternatives” are either cloud-first aggregators (Plaid / Open Banking) or incomplete envelope apps. I wanted the method — income lands in Ready to Assign, every amount gets a job, Available updates as you spend — plus registers, bills, real loan amortization, investments, and net worth, on the device. Manual entry is the point, not a missing feature. Viridel is local-first by default. Cloud is optional Plus, never the product. Shared household budgets work through partner invites, not shared bank credentials.
