Review Vira Theme?
Reviewers mostly praise Vira Theme for polished, readable color palettes, strong contrast, and icons that feel detailed and current. Many say it stays comfortable during long coding sessions, looks clean without being distracting, and offers useful customization, especially accent colors. Several users see it as a strong successor to Material Theme and even an improvement. The main complaints are limited color customization in some areas, a folder icon that can blend into the background, and friction around the paid model, especially given its roots in a formerly open-source project.

This is just clean! Very professional and well polished. It's perfect for long hours of coding. My current favorite is Palenight High Contrast. I've played with the highlight color and went back to the original teal color. It's perfect like it is! I love that it just works perfectly for me and I don't have to tweak everything.

Nothing really.. I'm afraid additional options might make it a worse experience. I like the simplicity and ease of use. Maybe some more variations on font and icon packs perhaps. Maybe some matching terminal (zsh, bash) themes to boot?

Price point? Honestly I didn't realize it needed a license. I happened across it when setting up a new IDE and went looking for the material theme. Went for this and was quite impressed! Bought a 6 pack license in the same hour. I don't need 6 licenses, but the price point was right!

Beautiful icons, amazing style!

More colour customisation, and...it does feel weird to have this be a paid product when it succeeded a FOSS project, that and being unable to contribute is annoying!
vs Alternatives
Material, Material Atom are both amazing icon sets, the former of which was succeeded by this project.

The Blacks are so black the they cured my photofobia, lol. The color pallet is so pleasing too.

One time only payment, totally worth it if you come from a big currency country, but the price is salty for people who live in economically smaller countries/continents.

From the dozens of themes I looked though, this one was the ideal for me, blacks are blacks, colors are vibrant, very customizable, etc.
What I love about Vira is the attention to detail. You can easily change the accent color (something I’ve only seen here), and the icons are always updated to match new technologies meaning every file has its own icon. It makes coding feel both stylish and seamless. If you want a theme that’s customizable and always up to date, Vira is the one.
I’ve always appreciated thoughtfully designed color schemes, and Vira absolutely nails it. The palettes are beautifully balanced, easy on the eyes, and make long coding sessions a lot more enjoyable. It’s a paid product now, but for the quality of the color schemes alone, it’s well worth the price.

The Vira Theme is a true standout in the marketplace. After trying countless free themes, none came close to matching both my aesthetic and functional needs like Vira does. As someone who works daily in VS Code, it’s refreshing to finally use a theme that gets everything right no more compromising on those little details that other themes miss. Vira’s clean design, intuitive color choices, and overall polish make coding genuinely enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a beautiful, distraction-free workspace without settling for “just okay.”

Smooth Transition from Material Theme – Loving Vira!
I've always been a big fan of the Material Theme, but since it's no longer actively maintained, I decided to give the Vira Theme a try — and I'm really glad I did!
Vira feels like the perfect successor: it's clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The color palette is both vibrant and comfortable for long coding sessions, and everything just feels polished and well-integrated.

Incredible customization options!

It would be nice to have a new folder Icon. Current one just blends into the background
The VIRA theme is definitely one of the most elegant and modern VS Code themes I've ever used. Not only is it very artistic in terms of color matching, but it is also very eye-friendly in dark mode. The sense of concentration in development has improved a lot, and the code has become more "new". Highly recommended for developers who care about the visual experience!
