Built Vinoperte because choosing wine at a restaurant still feels unnecessarily intimidating for most people. Even highly capable, successful people freeze when handed a wine list. The experience is often driven by guesswork, social pressure, or relying on scores and terminology that don’t actually reflect personal taste. At the same time, personalization has transformed almost every consumer category: Spotify knows your music taste. TikTok knows your content taste. Netflix knows your viewing taste. But wine discovery is still largely static and expert-driven. We wanted to build a consumer product that makes wine feel approachable, personalized, and confidence-building instead of intimidating. The original concept started very simply: “What if you could just snap a photo of a wine list and instantly know what you would like?” As we built the product, we realized the opportunity was much bigger than recommendations alone.
