Simply a screen on a stand that villages can order and put in a public place with a USB WiFi dongle with it (to get internet) with software installed on the tablet to be able to report a complaint or give feedback to the village. www.tab.inbrandgroup.co.uk
My first prototype of VillageTab was a web app in the browser powered by JotForm.com, you could use it on your mobile device, desktop etc. I liked that idea but I still wanted to do something more. I got out my old Android tablet and made a kiosk software that we could run the software on. It was not very good and could easily be closed and Android opened again.
About a month later, I saw a new JotForm.com app that you could do Kiosk Mode in, I downloaded the app on my Fire and tried it out, perfect. It worked. The only problem with this now is how we manufacture the hardware. We have done the software, what about the hardware?
This is VillageTab, a tablet on a stand but much more powerful than it sounds. VillageTab has so many incredible features such as it being ready to use for your village right out of the box, and needs hardly any setting up. Users of the product (your residents) cannot exit VillageTab’s operating system, VillageTab OS, thanks to JotForm.com’s new app.
Village’s can fully customize the software to changing the theme to changing which questions and functionality the device has. You just have to contact us via email at villagetab@inbrandgroup.co.uk. There is also a 30 day refund window so if you are not keen on VillageTab, you can return it and we can reuse it for a different village. These are just a few of the features on the admin side of VillageTab.
Now moving on to what the user can do. They can report a concern/complaint about the village, and also give feedback. This will be handy for your village as you can make it even better to live there! Everyone loves feedback.
You can access these complaints and feedback via the admin portal at JotForm.com. We will give you credentials to access your own account and customize it if you have someone with experience.
Some features we hope to implement in the future are the following:
Paying a bill to the village. You will be able to set this up by contacting us..
Accessing websites approved by the village. If someone in your village does not have access to WiFi for whatever reason, they can access approved websites like gov.uk, the parish website etc.
Accessing Government services like getting a passport, paying a bill etc.
Now, onto the hardware. It runs via a Huawei MediaPad T3 10 on a table or wall mount (optional). It is a simple piece of hardware and is easy to set up.
It is very protective as the Huawei MediaPad goes into the mount and it connects to the wall via screws and nobody without the key can get the MediaPad out. If someone does manage to steal it, which is very unlikely, we do cover it with optional monthly insurance, VillageCare. It starts at £17 per month and you can contact us to start the subscription.
Our website is tab.inbrandgroup.co.uk (awaiting approval for SSL certificate). You can take a look at a VillageTab OS demo in the browser and see other incredible features!
