Hey everyone! I'm Farin, the maker of VideoVCS.
So I decided to learn video editing one day. Didn't even know what a timeline was. But being an engineer, obviously I skipped all the tutorials and went straight to experimenting.
After 4 hours of messing around, I actually got something that looked fire. Effects were hitting, colors were clean. And then... the software crashed.
Reopened it and my brain went full panic mode. Ctrl+Z Ctrl+Z Ctrl+Z Ctrl+Z. Nothing. Zero patience, just desperation. Everything was gone. 4 hours of work, poof.
And that's when it hit me. We literally have GitHub for code. Why is there nothing like this for video editors?
So I built VideoVCS. Here's what it does:
- Auto-saves your Premiere Pro & DaVinci Resolve projects every time you export
- Shows exactly what changed with color-coded visual timeline diffs
- AI (Gemini) generates natural-language changelogs automatically
- One-click shareable links so clients can see the diff, leave timestamped comments, and approve
- Built-in revision tracking and invoice generation. Set X free revisions, charge per revision after that. Once editing is done, generate and send the invoice to your client directly.
- Replaces WhatsApp for client-editor communication. No more important feedback lost in chat. Everything is structured, timestamped, and tied to the actual project.
- One-click restore to any previous version
- Everything runs locally. Your files never leave your machine.
I also presented a research paper on this at an IEEE conference recently. So there's actual engineering behind it, not just Ctrl+Z trauma.
It's free during beta. Would love your honest feedback. What's missing? What would you improve?

This is exactly what i needed..i edit in Premiere Pro and the number of times I've lost work to crashes is insane.. the visual diff feature alone makes this worth it. definitely gonna try the beta today..
