Hey Product Hunt, I built VideoCatch because every video downloader I tried either buried the download button under five ad interstitials or made me install an app just to save a clip I already had permission to grab. I wanted something that just works: paste a link, get the file. Under the hood it is intentionally boring. VideoCatch reads the same public data the platform's own web player uses, then your browser connects straight to the platform's own delivery network to fetch the file - video.twimg.com for X, Instagram's scontent hosts, and so on. The file never travels through our servers, so there is no upload queue, no waiting room and no size cap. The only thing kept is a short-lived copy of the metadata (title, thumbnail, size list) for one hour, so a second person pasting the same link does not trigger a second request to the platform. No video is ever stored, and there is no sign-up and no app to install. Nine platforms work today: X (video and GIF), Instagram (video and Reels), Threads, RedNote, Pinterest (video and image), Snapchat, Facebook (video and Reels), TikTok and Twitch. It is built for anyone who needs to save a clip for reference, archive their own posts, or pull source video for editing - creators, researchers, social media managers.
