Most book trackers are built by engineers, but Velvet Spine is built by a reader. The aesthetic is the product - 7 color schemes that transform the entire app experience. Velvet Spotlight is unique - an ARC marketplace at 1/10th of NetGalley's price, built directly into the reading experience. This isn't a Goodreads clone. It's what book tracking looks like when someone actually cares about how it feels.

I'm Anna, the solo developer behind Velvet Spine. I've always hated how visually unappealing Goodreads is, and I wanted something that felt like what reading actually feels like - dark, atmospheric, beautiful.
Today, Velvet Spine is live on the App Store, and I'm so excited to share it with this community.
A few things I'm especially proud of:
1. The color schemes - 7 themes, including Dark Academia and Enchanted Forest, that completely transform the app aesthetic.
2. Velvet Spotlight - our ARC marketplace that lets indie authors connect with real readers at $49 vs NetGalley's $450-$850.
3. The yearly reading recap - it assigns you a reading personality type based on your genres.
