I built VandeVault, a free offline GST billing app for Indian small businesses
Hey everyone! 👋
I've been working on VandeVault, a simple billing app designed for Indian shopkeepers, freelancers, service providers, and small business owners who need to create invoices and quotations without relying on a constant internet connection.
The idea is straightforward: business billing should be simple, accessible, and give users more control over their own records.
🛠️ What does VandeVault do?
Here are the main features I've built:
GST invoices: Create tax invoices with automatic CGST, SGST, and IGST calculations based on your billing details.
Quotations: Prepare quotations for customers without creating everything from scratch.
Customer management: Save customer names, GSTINs, phone numbers, addresses, and other details for reuse.
Products and services: Save items with prices, HSN/SAC codes, and GST rates.
PDF sharing: Share invoices with customers through apps such as WhatsApp.
Custom branding: Add your business logo and signature to invoices.
Indian billing format: Display amounts in the Indian number format and convert totals into words.
English and Hindi: Use the app in either language.
Dark and light themes: Choose the appearance you prefer.
Offline functionality: Create and manage records without needing a continuous internet connection.
Data backup and migration: Export your data and import it on another compatible device, helping you move phones without re-entering all your business records.
🔐 Why offline-first?
Many small businesses need straightforward billing tools, but they don't necessarily want another account to create, a recurring subscription, or a workflow that depends on being online.
VandeVault is designed to work without sign-up, with business records stored locally on the device. The export/import feature also helps users move their records when changing phones.
As with any locally stored data, keeping a secure backup is important.
🌱 A little background
VandeVault is the first product I'm sharing publicly from Vande Digital Ecosystem, an initiative by Techgaon Private Limited.
The broader goal is to build useful digital applications that solve practical problems for individuals and businesses, especially in the Indian market.
