After writing about time-off optimization (some call it work-life balance) for years, I've finally built a web app that helps people fulfill this goal. I've used a variety of general purpose tools to keep track of my time off benefits and plan trips online, but none were geared toward people who make travel a major part of their life. My personal vacation details, files, photos, and notes are stored all over and I wanted one place where I can document (and link to) every vacation that I've taken in the past. At the same time I needed a way to plan out my year of travel by tracking and allocating paid time off. I don't want to rely on payslips and HR portals; plus they are built for employers and not people like me who treasure every vacation day as an opportunity. My software is your time-off dashboard to organize all the places you've been, track all your days off and holidays, and measure your accomplishments. VacationCounts has been fully updated for 2021 and includes the list of official US holidays so you can track your company time off benefits. Don't rely on your HR portal to track your time off usage (what if it's wrong?). Keep track of every day you've earned, plan to take, and taken to take a staycation or vacation in 2021. The web app has been updated to make it easier to document your past vacations and plan for upcoming trips so you never lose vacation days. It is important to plan ahead and request the days off you want this year. Work-Life balance is just as important now as ever.
