100% private in-browser utilities. Merge PDFs, format JSON, generate hashes, compress images, and protect files locally with zero server uploads.
One architectural decision I'm still evaluating is running AI models directly in the browser instead of on the server.
For example, the AI Image Upscaler and Audio/Video Transcript tools download the model to your device and perform inference locally.
Benefits:
🔒 Your files never leave your computer.
💸 Lower infrastructure costs.
🌐 Works without sending personal documents to third-party AI providers.
🛡️ Better privacy by design.
Trade-offs:
⏳ The first run requires downloading the model.
💻 Performance depends on the user's hardware.
🧠 AI tasks can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes on older machines.
📱 Some mobile devices struggle with larger models.
I'm curious how others think about this tradeoff.
If you were using a tool to process personal documents or photos, would you prefer:
🟢 Local AI that keeps everything on your device but may be slower.
🔵 Cloud AI that's much faster but requires uploading your files.
I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts because this decision will shape the future direction of Utiliome.
One thing I really enjoy about building Utiliome is that many tools exist because someone asked for them.

No cloud dependency.
Just open the tool and start recording.
The first version includes simple slicing and editing, and I'm already collecting ideas for the next release.
