Hey Product Hunt...! I built Urbindex because I kept running into the same problem: useful local knowledge is scattered everywhere. You find good campsites through friends. Hidden trails through Reddit. Public outlets from random blog posts. Quiet work spots from Discord servers. Then six months later, it disappears. I wanted a map first platform where communities could document and share local knowledge in one place. With Urbindex, people can pin, discover, rate, and discuss places ranging from scenic spots and campsites to useful resources, local landmarks, and overlooked places that traditional map apps usually ignore. A few things I’m still actively thinking about: • How should sensitive locations be handled? • Would you contribute locations publicly or privately? • What kinds of places would you personally map? • How should moderation work for location based communities? Tech stack for the curious: vanilla JavaScript, Firebase, Leaflet, OpenStreetMap, and PWA support.
