The metaverse is already here we just have to unlock it. Urbaners represents a vision of the next social phase of the internet, starting with a web3 chrome extension that makes every website multiplayer and allows for shared interactivity.

Hey Producthunt 👋, we started Urbaners with the feeling of being lonely in the web. Yes there are websites that allow you to be social but a great majority of the web is you wandering around and not interacting with anyone. We wanted to recreate the feeling of going out in a city, walking through streets seeing a endless amount of shops, being surprised by new experiences but most importantly seeing other people because you are at the same places, not because you force social. A city without people, thats what the web currently feels like. The web is the new urban! Thats our vision and we want to make it more social and fun. Everybody talks about the metaverse and in my head I see this big 3D space filled with people where I can jump from experience to experience and surely that is likely the ultimative version of the metaverse. But there is so much left in order to reach this immersive version and there are many great people working on it. The metaverse isn’t a construct that will be here over night, it needs be build like a city, brick for brick. For us the base layer of the metaverse is already here, it is the internet and we think that an omnipresent social layer added to the internet, will break the first boundary of the metaverse. You don’t have to have a fancy VR headset or a digital clone of yourself, no, just use the web as always and see your peers exploring it with you. We took inspiration from current collaborative software like Figma and Miro which feels a lot more alive than other software. That small thing, seeing other peoples cursors adds a whole new dimension and whole new feeling of being there together. With urbaners we bring this feeling an bring it to the whole web. Urbaners is currently in the making, we developed a small prototype and want ask you to get in an open discussion with us. Do you feel lonely exploring the web? What a great idea, I love it! I think it touches the Zeitgeist and has great potential. Good luck, excited to follow your journey. Some thoughts I just had: - How do you want to overcome the scarcity of users in the beginning? - Can I go on "web journeys" with my friends? That would be super cool!
