So, I've never done anything like this in my entire life. Very scary, but here I go... I was working on the Publishing side of EA for a little over 3 years until I applied and got accepted into EA's Rotational Experience Program, where I got the opportunity to work as a Producer on Cliffhanger Games' upcoming Black Panther game for the first half of 2025. Working in games has always been a dream of mine-- I grew up playing on the original PlayStation with my dad, brother and neighborhood friends, N64 with my best friends' house across the street... my first job while in high school was working at my local GameStop on the weekends. After an undergraduate degree, various industry switchbacks, an MBA, and a little bit of luck and determination, I made my way to EA. "I finally made it," and late last year I felt like I was at the starting line for the hands-on game development era of my professional career. I knew for the first time in my life that I was in the right place: surrounded by some of the most creative and driven individuals, innovating in a space that desperately needed it. I was happy, I was hopeful. But 2025 had other plans: My husband's studio got shut down. I was one of hundreds of other EA employees that were laid off last month, but thankfully was able to stay until the end of my rotational program. Then exactly a week ago, my Cliffhanger Games colleagues were given the news that the studio was shutting down. Heartbreak after heartbreak, I poured myself into a passion project that was sparked by a simple problem my husband had: now that I have some free time on my hands, what game should I play? So, I decided to make a thing-- introducing unplayed. Use the picker tool to help overcome your huge Steam library and overwhelming choice paralysis, gain insights through delightful visualizations, and more. It's my love letter to all games, the people that make them, and the people that buy them. To the games with thousands of hours of play, and that hidden gem that's just waiting to be played. Despite me and my family's current circumstances, I'm still happy and I'm still hopeful. I'm hopeful that my fellow game developers find gainful employment where their skills and creativity shine. I'm hopeful I'll get to make a game one day (I have a few ideas cooking). I'm hopeful that games continue to bring us closer together rather than divide us. Enjoy.
