Unlockr helps you interrupt mindless scrolling without hard-blocking your phone. Choose distracting apps, then complete a short breathing, squat, push-up, or plank challenge to unlock them. Earned time counts only while you actually use the app, and camera-based rep counting runs entirely on-device. Built for people who want more intentional screen time-not another blocker they’ll disable after a few days.
I built Unlockr because I kept running into the same problem with screen-time tools: if a blocker was too easy to bypass, I’d ignore it. If it was too strict, I’d eventually disable it.
So I tried a different approach: instead of completely blocking distracting apps, make access something you earn.
With Unlockr, you choose the apps you want to limit. When you want to open one, you complete a short challenge first - breathing, squats, push-ups, or a plank - then earn some screen time.
The goal isn’t to stop using Instagram, TikTok, games, etc. completely. It’s to interrupt that automatic “open and scroll” reflex and turn it into a conscious decision.
A few details I cared a lot about while building it:
* Earned time only decreases while you’re actually using the unlocked app. * Exercise rep counting happens entirely on-device. * No camera images are saved or uploaded. * You can choose different difficulty levels depending on how much friction you want.
I built the first version over the past month, mostly spending 1–2 hours on it after work.
This is also my first iOS app, so I’m not expecting everything to be perfect. I’d genuinely appreciate feedback - especially on whether this type of friction feels useful enough to change a habit without becoming annoying.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
