uChecker is a menu-bar Mac app that proofreads and rephrases your text right on your device. Hit a global hotkey, or use it from the Services menu on any selected text, and get corrected text back in one click. Proofread also shows exactly what changed, tagged by type. On-device by default: no account, no tracking, no cloud unless you opt into your own custom endpoint. Runs on Intel Macs too, via free offline spell-check. Free on the Mac App Store.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built uChecker because I wanted a proofreading tool that lives in the menu bar and doesn't ship my writing to a server by default. Press a hotkey — or use it from the Services menu on any selected text, anywhere on your Mac — and get corrected text back instantly. In Proofread mode you also get a tagged breakdown of exactly what changed (spelling, grammar, punctuation); Rephrase keeps it simple and just gives you the rewritten result.
It's on-device by default: Apple Intelligence on capable Macs, and free offline spell-check everywhere else (including Intel Macs and older macOS). If you want more power, you can add your own OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible endpoint — your key, your choice, never required.
Would love your feedback, especially on what other quick text modes you'd want beyond Proofread and Rephrase!

💡 Bright idea
support for custom keyboard shortcuts to switch between proofread and rephrase would be huge, since right now i'm not sure how to quickly toggle between them without going through the menu every time. also would love if the diff view could be collapsed with a single keystroke when i'm just skimming.

@bedirhantrgk Thanks for trying it out so early - means a lot to get real feedback on day one. Good points, both - the mode-switch shortcut and the one-keystroke diff collapse. I'll take these and get them into one of the next releases.
