TypeShift is a native macOS text expander. Type a short abbreviation anywhere — Mail, Slack, VS Code, Terminal — and it instantly expands into your full snippet

Hey everyone! I built TypeShift because I’ve spent ~10 years using text expanders every day, but always felt like they were either outdated, clunky, or way more complicated than they needed to be.
So I wanted something that felt native to macOS, stayed out of the way, but was still powerful when I needed it.
What it actually helps with (day-to-day):
Typing the same messages over and over → turn them into short abbreviations
Fixing grammar or rewording something quickly → trigger AI inline
Dropping in formatted responses (emails, support replies, notes)
Inserting dynamic content like dates, clipboard, or cursor placement
What makes it different:
AI Macros → use {ai: ...} inside a snippet to generate text on the fly (your own API key, your control)
Rich text snippets → formatting actually carries over (bold, links, etc.)
Clean, native macOS experience → fast, lightweight, menu bar app
Private by design → everything stays on your Mac + iCloud sync
It’s $3.99 one-time, no subscription, with a 30-day free trial.
I originally built this just for myself, so launching it publicly has been a big step. I would genuinely love feedback, especially on where it feels confusing or missing something.
