I’m ET, an independent developer building TypeFlow.
TypeFlow is a translation keyboard for iPhone, starting with English to Spanish.
The idea is simple: translation should not feel like throwing a full sentence into a black box.
With most translation apps, you write a sentence, paste it somewhere, and get a complete translated sentence back. It may be correct, but you often do not know how each word changed, whether the tone is right, or why the final sentence is structured that way.
TypeFlow works differently.
You type in English, just like you normally would. As you type each word, TypeFlow shows the Spanish translation in real time, following your English word order first. You can build the sentence step by step and clearly see which Spanish word maps to each English word.
Then, when the sentence is ready, you tap the “TF” button.
That is the magic moment: the sentence changes in front of you into a more natural Spanish structure.
So the process becomes:
1. Type word by word.
2. See each translation.
3. Choose the right phrase.
4. Tap TF.
5. Watch it become Spanish.
Another important part is that TypeFlow is deeply integrated with English typing habits.
For example, when you type “go”, the keyboard suggests English words and phrases starting with “go”, just like a native English keyboard. But TypeFlow also shows the Spanish meaning next to each suggestion.
If you continue typing “ing”, the suggestions narrow down to “going”, “going to”, and related phrases. You can think while typing, compare meanings, and choose the word that actually matches what you want to say.
This makes translation feel less like a black-box result and more like a guided writing process.
