Love that it nudges me toward whatever's about to go bad, my grocery bill has already taken a hit. Importing a TikTok recipe from a screenshot actually worked, which I was not expecting.
@canturel1pwy The screenshot import was the bit I was most nervous about shipping, so that's good to hear. Expiry ordering is the whole reason it exists — I was binning half a fridge a week. Are you importing mostly from TikTok, or saving from the web too?
The idea of flagging expiring ingredients first is genuinely useful and not something I've seen done well elsewhere. One thing I'd love is a quick swap option when I'm missing a single ingredient, since I rarely have everything on hand and don't want to abandon a recipe over one missing spice.
@muhammed54207 Honest answer: half of it exists and it's the less useful half. Trova already knows a lot of substitutions behind the scenes, so a recipe won't be hidden from you just because you're missing something you've got a stand-in for. What it doesn't do is the thing you're actually describing — tell you "you're one spice short, use this instead" at the moment you hit it. The data's there, the prompt isn't. It's going on the list.
Finally an app that actually uses up the sad celery in my crisper drawer before it turns to mush. The recipe import from TikTok is clutch.
@fahrireyha38819 The sad celery is genuinely why this exists — mine was usually a bag of spinach going slimy behind the milk. Glad the import's holding up, it was the hardest part to get right. Also, mind if I quote the celery line? It's a better description of the app than anything I've written.
