We are 4 french guys, who love tech and apps. Few month ago we left our jobs and started the Tricy adventure. We wanted to build a fun product that brings people together. Inspired by great products like Instagram, Cluster and Tribe, we believe that photos are the best way to do that.
As has well described Fred, Tricy is about connecting with your friends wherever they are. No more « What’s up? Where are you? » by text or messenger, with just a tap, you can trigger a photo on your friends’ phones and see what everyone is doing right now!

Love this idea, really simple. Invite friends, start a countdown and everyone takes a picture together - the app then puts these photos together. I'd be interested to hear from the makers what the go-to-market strategy is and how they get friends on board.
@tawak_m I really like the simplicity of the app. I can see it being an effective anti-FOMO tool for friends.
Do you see the product evolving to a point where users would have the ability to charge a small fee to access new filters, stickers?

I'm a Tricy user for a couple of weeks and I may admit that's it's fun! The app is well designed. But here are the two main issues:
1. To take a shot, you need your friend online: your friend will get a notification to connect on Tricy, but most of the time, I am just waiting for 15 seconds and then I quit. To play with a goup of friends, seems almost impossible to get them all online at the same time!
2. Tricy promise to answer the question " What’s up? Where are you?", but most of the time you just get the nose of your friend in the middle of a shot and you cannot say where is he located, what is he doing, etc.

This issues are well known here and we are building some adjustments to fix them.
We are considering allowing friends who missed the shot to participate later by posting a photo in the comments. Also we are thinking about a « Planned shots » feature a.k.a shots that you can schedule. Tricy would send you reminders (push) few minutes before the zero hour :)

It was/is a great idea and I had a lot more thoughts about it which I left out of the paper. I even built some wire frames. But I just didn't have the time to build it. At the time I was working on @refreshads and @blinkrapp. So I thought it best to put the idea out there and hopefully see it brought to life someday.
I think the concept has more applications beyond just selfies.
