What do you think? …

Robert Freeman
Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Rob, founder of TrendEdge. After 20 years in trading and fintech, I built this because I was tired of watching retail traders fight with one hand tied behind their back. The problem: Hedge funds pay millions for alternative data: social sentiment, web traffic, hiring trends, political signals. They see what’s moving before it hits the headlines. Retail traders? They get the news after the move is over. What TrendEdge does: We pull the same alternative data signals institutions use, score every stock daily with AI, and show you exactly what’s driving each signal. Not just a number, but the evidence behind it. Plus real-time alerts when sentiment shifts on stocks you’re tracking. But data alone doesn’t make better traders. That’s why we built mock trading that forces discipline. Before every trade, you define your thesis, entry logic, and exit strategy. Every decision is logged. You see exactly why you win and why you lose, so you build a repeatable process before risking real money. What makes us different: - The same alt-data signals hedge funds use, now accessible to everyone - Real-time alerts when sentiment or key data shifts - Mock trading that builds discipline, not just paper profits - Full transparency: every signal published with track record Why I’m sharing this here: I genuinely want feedback. What features would make this more useful for you? What’s missing? What’s confusing? If you’re a retail trader tired of being last to know, give it a try and let me know what you think. Cheers, Rob P.S. Niall’s done a full platform walkthrough in the demo video if you want to see how it all works.

@trendedge congrats on the launch! Is this oriented towards a specific investment strategy (e.g ETFs)?

Hey Austin, thanks for the question!

TrendEdge isn't oriented towards any specific investment strategy.

We don't provide strategies or advice.

What we do is give you the data and tools to build your own process. You get alternative data signals (social sentiment, web traffic, hiring trends), AI scores for stocks across multiple exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, Euronext, Xetra), real-time alerts, and mock trading to test your ideas before risking real money.

Whether you're into ETFs, individual stocks, growth, value, or something else entirely, the platform helps you research smarter and build discipline around whatever approach works for you.

Happy to answer any other questions!

Rob

Congrats on the launch!

As someone also working in the financial industry, I appreciate how crucial alternative data has become for investment decision-making.

That said, I’d love it if you could share a bit more detail around update frequency and data latency for your alternative data feeds. One of the big challenges for retail investors is timing: if alt data is only made available after institutional players have already acted on it, there’s a real risk of being run-ahead of in the market. How does TrendEdge handle this? Are there measures to minimize delay, and do you differentiate between true real-time feeds versus aggregated or batched data? How often does the platform refresh its signals, and what sort of lag should users expect relative to the original source? Understanding this more clearly would help retail users better assess how they can leverage these signals in their strategies without unfair disadvantage compared to institutional players.

Thanks again — great to see tools like this becoming more accessible. Looking forward to learning more!

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the thoughtful question - data freshness matters, and it's the right thing to ask.

Update Frequencies:

  • Price data: 15-minute intervals during market hours

  • Reddit/social sentiment: Hourly aggregation from multiple subreddits (r/wallstreetbets, r/stocks, r/investing, etc.)

  • AI predictions & scores: Refreshed daily

  • Earnings calendar: Daily sync

Our approach:

TrendEdge is built as a learning platform for retail investors - not a tool for millisecond execution. The real value isn't speed; it's helping users understand why certain patterns emerge and what drives stock movements.

Our users test strategies using real alternative data, learn from AI-powered analysis that explains the reasoning behind signals, and build the discipline to become better-informed investors over time. The platform surfaces patterns - like Reddit attention accelerating before price follows - that typically play out over days or weeks, giving plenty of time to research and act thoughtfully.

How TrendEdge helps retail investors:

  • 📊 Test before you invest - paper trade strategies risk-free with real market data

  • 🧠 Understand the "why" - AI analysis explains what's driving each stock, not just "buy/sell"

  • 📈 Spot early signals - see social momentum, volume spikes, and sentiment shifts before they trend

  • 📝 Build trading discipline - document your thesis, track your decisions, learn from outcomes

  • Transparent track record - we publish our AI prediction accuracy so you can verify results

Happy to dive deeper on any of this. Great to connect with others in the space!
