Hello and happy Saturday, Product Hunt! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm a little new here, so please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Calum Bird, and I am a young entrepreneur from Canada with a goal: to change the way we pay for and use personal computers by bringing the power of the cloud to everyday people. To accomplish this I'd like to introduce something I've been working on for a couple years now, Trelent. Trelent is a browser-based platform that lets you purchase, scale, and use a Windows PC in your browser. With hourly billing starting at $0.25/hr (Canadian dollars, mind you!), you only pay while your Trelent PC is running, no matter the specs! Storage is billed monthly at 10ยข/GB/Mo. Currently hosted in Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ, you can rely on your data being safe and secure from prying eyes. We're looking to expand to the rest of the globe ASAP to make your experience better, if you're outside North America! So why is this necessary? What are the limitations of today's PC's? ------------------------------------------ โŒ PC's aren't scalable. Upgrades (for most of us) take days and ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ โŒ The upfront cost can be incredibly high, especially for students and, more generally, younger people! โŒ Desktop PC's aren't portable, and notebooks can't keep up to their power. โŒ You rarely use all of the computing power you paid for anyway, but you pay for the maximum load, not the average. How does Trelent fix those problems? ------------------------------------------ โœ… With a Trelent PC, you can scale up or down in less than a minute by orders of magnitude! โœ… The upfront cost is minimal, only $25 for a setup fee, plus your first month of storage โœ… Trelent is inherently portable, as it can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection โœ… Instead of paying for the maximum load, you can pay for the minimum and upgrade only when necessary! Trelent is great for anything from basic office work ๐Ÿ“„ to programming โŒจ๏ธ or even 3D (video, too!) rendering ๐Ÿ”ฅ! The best part is that you could use it, for example, for programming by day, and upgrade for fast ๐Ÿš€ 3D-Rendering by night! The sky's the limit! Using Trelent, I even placed 19th globally in a popular CPU benchmark on hwbot! You may be thinking at this point, "Hey, hasn't this been done before?" and you'd be right! What makes us different is our choice to not include GPU's by default. This let's us lower our price ๐Ÿ“‰ by an order of magnitude compared to competitors, while maintaining Trelent's utility in the majority of your use cases! Long live the CPU! This brings the answer to an inevitable question: Trelent is not for gaming. Stay tuned though - we have big plans! ๐ŸŽฎ Weโ€™re super excited to finally get our product in the hands of the public, and as a way of thanking Product Hunt for enabling that, weโ€™re offering a one-time 40% discount to the first 250 people to sign up from Product Hunt in the next week! Simply sign up, then use the code PHUNT40 at checkout after logging into our dashboard and clicking on "Purchase a PC"! If you donโ€™t make the first group of 250, no need to fret! For the rest of the month, code JULY20 will get you 20% off on your first purchase as well - only one code at a time, though! Tell your friends! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ I'll be answering questions here, on Instagram and Twitter (@ TrelentPC) for the rest of the day! Feel free to send us an email too! Can't wait to hear what you have to say! Thanks everyone!
