Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Richard, and I built Trekr. It started with a simple question: why is it still so hard to find your friends on a trip? In Vegas, at a festival, anywhere a group splits up, it turns into a string of "where are you?" texts and somebody's phone at 4%. My first note for the app was just a shared map and a way to drop a pin to meet up. Then I looked at everything else the same group was juggling. A shared note for the plan that nobody kept updated. Splitwise for who owed what. A group chat where plans and photos got buried. So Trekr grew into one private "Trek" your whole group joins with a short code: • A live map of everyone, plus meetup pins with directions • A shared itinerary, sorted by day • Expense splitting in any currency, netted down to the fewest payments • Group chat and a shared photo gallery • A Recap card to share when the trip ends A few things changed along the way: • It started as a location app. Expense splitting came next, and then I kept finding more trip chaos worth fixing. • I planned to build it in Swift, then switched to React Native. That keeps an Android version within reach without starting over. • I cut features to keep things simple. Partial payments are gone. You settle up in full, and Trekr works out who pays whom. • Location sharing is set per Trek, and anyone can turn it off with one tap. People who would never share their location permanently are happy to share it with friends for a weekend. Trekr is free. When paid extras arrive, they'll be for the organizer only.
