TreeNotes

Every note you write plants a tree

a project where writing grows a virtual tree. It's an early version with core features: set a goal and write to see it grow. You can try the live version on this page. I'm looking for feedback for future features like a 'forest view' and cloud sync!

Hey everyone, So, I've built this little project called TreeNotes, based on the simple idea that writing should feel more alive. As you type, you get to watch a virtual tree grow on your screen, turning the simple act of writing into something a bit more visual and rewarding. It's still an early version, so the features are currently limited to the core experience: you can set a name for your tree, define a character target, and of course, write in the editor to see your tree grow in real-time. Everything is saved automatically to your browser's local storage, so you won't lose your work. You can try out the live version right on this page. Just scroll down to the app section, set a goal, and start writing to see your first tree sprout! This is very much a work-in-progress, and I'd love to hear what you think. My suggestions for future development include creating a "forest view" to see all your notes as a collection of trees, and eventually adding cloud sync. If you have any feedback or ideas for improvement, I'm all ears!

@patti8 Hey,

I really like the idea behind TreeNotes, turning writing into something visual and rewarding is super creative! The concept of watching a tree grow as you write feels both motivating and fun.

I think your roadmap ideas like the "forest view" and cloud sync sound great, and they could make the app even more engaging. If you ever need feedback, testing, or even a bit of help on the development side, I’d be happy to support you.

Keep going, you’ve got something unique here!

@gabriel_christe Thanks a lot for your support! I’m happy you like the TreeNotes idea. Forest view and cloud sync are in the plans, and I’m also thinking about open-sourcing the project at some point. I’ll let you know when testing is ready—it’d be awesome to have your feedback.

@patti8 Thanks for the update! TreeNotes sounds really promising, and I’d love to help when testing is ready. I’m a frontend developer (React, Tailwind, immersive UI/UX) and would be happy to give feedback or contribute to features if you’re open to it.

@gabriel_christe Sorry for the late response, I’m planning to make it open-source. I hope you’re still interested.
