transcript.im is an AI transcript generator for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and X videos, plus your own audio and video files. Paste a link or upload an MP4, MP3, podcast, meeting or lecture recording to get a timestamped transcript: captions when they exist, AI speech to text when they don't. Summarize the video, translate the transcript, turn it into a mind map or a new script, and export TXT, SRT or VTT subtitles. Transcribe a whole YouTube channel or playlist in one batch.

Hey Product Hunt,
A video can be the starting point for a lot more than another watch: a post, a script, study notes, meeting notes, or subtitles for your next edit.
The first step is getting the words out. transcript.im is a transcript generator built for that step.
Here's the flow:
1. Paste a YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn or X link, or upload an audio or video file (MP4, MP3, a podcast episode, a meeting or a lecture recording).
2. Get a timestamped transcript. We read existing captions when a video has them and switch to AI speech to text when it doesn't.
3. Work with the text: search it, summarize the video, translate the transcript, turn it into a mind map, or rewrite it as a new script or post.
4. Export TXT, SRT or VTT subtitles and take the result into your next tool.
Need more than one video? Transcribe a whole YouTube channel or playlist in one batch.
A few ways people use it:
- Creators turn an existing YouTube video or TikTok into the draft of the next script.
- Students and researchers get lecture notes and a summary they can check against the original timestamps.
- Teams recording calls turn the audio into meeting notes with decisions and action items.
- Editors download SRT or VTT subtitles for a video that only had auto-captions.
You still make the editorial decisions. Names, numbers and important quotes need checking, especially with noisy audio or imperfect captions.
What do you usually need after the transcript: a summary, subtitles, notes or a new draft? Tell us what your workflow looks like and where transcript.im gets in your way.
