Bank feeds hand you TST* SWEETGREEN 0421 when what you need is Sweetgreen, Meals & Entertainment. Paste your lines, get clean vendor names and suggested categories. Free, no account. Built while trying to stop losing Sundays to bookkeeping.
I hate bookkeeping. That's the whole origin story.
I kept losing Sunday nights to categorizing transactions, and the worst part was never the decisions. It was reading lines like TST* SWEETGREEN 0421 and SQ *BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE and AMZN MKT US*RT4YZ8901 and trying to remember what any of it was.
So I built the part that fixes that and pulled it out as its own free thing. You paste your bank lines, it strips the payment processor junk and the store numbers and the city names, and hands you back real vendor names with a suggested category. No account, no upload.
Two honest notes.
The categories come from a fixed dictionary of a few hundred national merchants. If your vendor isn't in it, you get the clean name and a blank category rather than a confident guess. I would rather it say nothing than make something up.
And cleaning names is the easy half. Deciding whether a $4,000 wire is a contractor payment or an owner draw or a transfer between your own accounts needs your chart of accounts and your history. That's the part I'm actually building, and it's not what this tool does.
Would genuinely like to know where it fails on your data. Paste something ugly at it and tell me what it got wrong.
