TrafficJam is the first app of its kind: chat w/drivers stuck in your jam, or any reported jam in the US. Anonymous, hyper-local chat — find out wait times, what's really going on up there, is jam clearing. Scout jams on the map before you leave: wait, is it clearing, reroute, or warn others heading into it. Suggest alternate routes. Everything vanishes when traffic clears. We track nothing. No accounts, no history. Safety tools (SOS, hands-free voice, read aloud, auto-send). Live: iOS + Android
I used to travel a lot for work providing the opportunity to get stuck in many traffic jams on interstates as well as within the city limits. Even with Google or Waze, it's hard to know for sure if you can get off and get around this traffic jam without running into some other kind of issue. I just always thought I wish I could ask somebody up front what was going on. Should I wait it out or is it gonna be a two hour delay? AND I have always wanted to be able to tell drivers on the other side of the interstate that they are in a 5 mile jam-GET OFF or go around. Not to mention emergency situations, if you're in a traffic
jam sure you can call 911 but what if there was a DR 3 cars from you, etc...
I live on the Gulf Coast and there are bridges that get closed down regularly due to accidents. I want to know there is an accident and exactly where it is before leaving or even on the way...you can immediately rearrange your plans, reschedule, reroute.

How does the app actually verify someone is really in a specific jam before letting them chat with other drivers there?

@lkerdabas7lr Thanks for the question! GPS verification. But, anyone can join any jam in the US that has been reported to get information for pre-travel planning. There is a toggle on the top of Chat screen and on the Profile & Settings screen for "in-jam messages only". If you are outside the designated radius you are tagged as outside the chat.
