Some limitations (lack of group chat, buggy, etc.), but IMO Tox is a much bigger deal than people here are making it out to be. It has ramifications that span far beyond simply messaging...

@itsthisjustin After FB bought whatsapp, Telegram came out as an "independent" alternative and skyrocketed to the top of the charts. Basically was a more secure, not-facebook-owned, chat client. Overcame the network effects problem a typical chat client would face by properly positioning/marketing itself and being at the right place at the right time. http://techcrunch.com/2014/02/24...
