Tolerance

Makes your feed progressively boring until you leave

Tolerance is a browser extension that scores every post in your feed by how hard it's trying to manipulate you, then blurs the worst offenders. The longer you scroll, the more gets blurred. You leave because you're bored, not because an app blocked you. Why it works: Blocking apps fail because they create craving. Tolerance uses extinction instead: remove the reward, and the habit fades. You still open Twitter. You just close it in seconds because there's nothing there. BYOK, YT, Insta, reddit.

Hey PH! I built Tolerance because I'd been addicted to social media for years and nothing worked: screen time limits, app blockers, deleting accounts. I always caved. Then I had a different idea: what if the problem isn't my willpower? What if the feed is just really good at manipulating me? So I built an AI layer that scores every post by manipulation tactics and blurs the high scorers. The longer I scroll, the more gets blurred. It took one week to break a years-long habit. I still reflexively opened Reddit 15+ times a day, I just close it in seconds now because the reward is gone. And I'm now starting to open it less too. The wildest feature is Quality Mode: blur everything ABOVE 20% manipulation. What survives? Lectures, essays, actual substance. It's like seeing a different internet: the one the algorithm was hiding from you. Open source, no tracking. I hope you find it as freeing as I have.
