Hey everyone! I'm Christian, a remote Frontend Developer and one of the first people to be approved for Japan’s new Digital Nomad Visa. After navigating the confusing application process, I realized how little clear information was available. The requirements were vague, the restrictions unclear, and figuring out how to fill out the forms properly took multiple 3am calls with Japanese immigration and back-and-forth emails with the embassy. Once I arrived in Tokyo, I had to figure out housing, choose a neighborhood, and explore the city, all while recovering from getting seriously sick right after landing and trying to find English-speaking doctors in a foreign healthcare system. On top of that came the challenges of setting up SIM cards, finding coworking spaces, and building a social circle in a country with a very different culture and language. I created these PDF guides to help others avoid the same stress. Just practical, real-world advice that actually works. Despite the rocky start, those six months became the best of my life.
