Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm the maker of Token Saver.
I got tired of waiting when the credits or usage expired. Following on the phrase "Don't use a gun to kill a mosquito" , its exactly like that when you talk to AI Models. They are super powerful but very important is how to use them.
While working with AI assistants and different language models, I kept noticing something frustrating: we often use expensive, powerful models for tasks that much smaller and cheaper models could handle just as well.
A simple documentation update doesn't necessarily need the same intelligence as a complex architecture decision.
So I built Token Saver — a free, open-source collection of AI skills designed to make model selection smarter.
What it does:
Helps select models based on task complexity and capabilities
Encourages cheaper models for routine work
Reserves powerful models for difficult reasoning and high-stakes tasks
Works within existing AI development workflows
Makes AI usage more cost-conscious without blindly sacrificing quality
Our modeled scenarios suggest the potential for 68% lower costs and 55% fewer tokens. These are estimates, not guaranteed real-world savings.
What it isn't: Token Saver doesn't combine multiple AI subscriptions into a single service or magically pool their usage limits. Not as of today. Thinking how in future to do this, but its in general not a good idea. Reason: Changing suppliers is more expensive than using one supplier with different resources.
I built this because I believe AI efficiency should be about using intelligence wisely, not just buying more tokens.
I'd love your feedback on three things:
How do you currently decide which AI model to use?
Would you trust automatic model recommendations?
What would make this genuinely useful in your daily workflow?
Thanks for checking it out! 🚀
