Hey, I built TODO.md because I wanted a good iPhone UI for the tasks already in my Markdown files. I didn't want to move them into another app or start keeping track of a separate task database. Your Markdown vault stays the single source of truth. TODO.md is a UI on top of it. Your tasks live in your files, alongside your notes, and the app gives you a comfortable way to view and check them off on your phone. Add a todo tag to a Markdown file and it shows up as a list. Each file stays its own list, and your vault's folder structure stays intact. You can keep using Obsidian or your preferred editor. You don't have to change where your information lives just to get a better mobile experience. This also fits how I think about a second brain. If you give an AI agent access to your vault, it can work with the same notes and tasks you use. There's no separate app database it needs an integration with. The files are right there, readable by you and the tools you choose. I wanted this to work well for people who struggle with keeping things organized, especially with ADHD. Having tasks scattered across different apps makes it easy to lose track of them. Keeping notes and tasks together was the main reason I built it. Then I spent time making the app feel good to use. Swipe animations, haptics and sound effects make checking off a task a little more satisfying. There's also a home-screen widget so you can see and complete tasks without opening the app. I built it for myself and use it myself. The iPhone app is free and will stay free. I'm planning an Android app, a Mac app and an Obsidian plugin so I can use the same Markdown files comfortably across platforms. Those aren't released yet. The Mac app may be paid later, but that won't change the iPhone app being free. I'm also considering a Markdown editor, while keeping the app as simple as possible. If you already keep tasks in Markdown, I'd love to hear how you manage them, which platform you'd want next, and what's missing for your setup.
