I built toCopy because I was tired of the same annoying loop: see text on screen (a screenshot someone sent, a slide in a video call, a sign in a photo), and have no way to grab it without retyping the whole thing by hand. So toCopy is just that — select any area of your screen, and the text is on your clipboard a second later. It runs entirely on-device (Apple's built-in recognition, no servers, no accounts), so it works instantly and never sends anything anywhere. A couple of things I ended up adding because I kept needing them myself: It also decodes QR codes and barcodes — point-select one and you get the actual URL/text, not a screenshot of it A second hotkey captures in Markdown, so headings and lists survive instead of turning into one flat paragraph It's free, it's a tiny menu bar app, and it does one thing. Would love to hear what you think — especially if there's a screen-text-grabbing workflow I haven't thought of yet.
