I’m a Europe-based founder running a global SaaS platform. We serve customers across Europe and worldwide.
How does tiun handle VAT for B2C sales? What about B2B and reverse charge? And does tiun handle the invoice requirements too?

@sergiu_chiriac Thanks Sergiu! This is exactly the kind of complexity we want to take off your plate :) As the Merchant of Record, tiun is the legal seller, so we handle the tax side of the transaction.
For B2C, we calculate and collect the applicable VAT/sales tax and take care of collection, reporting and remittance.
For B2B, we collect the required business information and, where applicable, handle reverse charge instead of charging VAT.
And yes, invoicing is part of it too. We generate the compliant invoice for the customer based on the transaction and local requirements and for you in form of a reverse invoice and payout receipt.
So whether you’re selling B2C or B2B across different countries, the idea is that you shouldn’t have to figure out the tax logic yourself.

Congrats, team! Relevant product! One recurring problem for indie hackers is that Stripe is unavailable or limited in their country. Can a founder use tiun to sell globally without first building a company in a Stripe-supported market?

Today, businesses from 39 countries can onboard with us and sell to customers across 64 countries.
We’re adding new countries pretty much every month, and we’re quite reactive to requests from founders — so if your country isn’t supported yet, definitely reach out.

@ansharora Thanks Ansh! There are two layers to the question :) You can sell and receive payouts in 120+ currencies. tiun holds the money in either a USD, GBP, EUR or CHF account (which is your default payment currency in your tiun dashboard)
The product hits the perfect pain point for most builders. So congrats on the launch. But how are you guys able to offer better pricing than Stripe?

@chetanvaswani Thanks Chetan! Being based in Switzerland definitely helps. We have a pretty strong payments and banking ecosystem here, and we’ve been able to build direct partnerships with payment providers that give us more flexibility on the economics.
A lot of MoRs out there process through Stripe and then need to add their own fees on top. We don’t.
Can’t share the whole setup, but that’s essentially how we’re able to keep the pricing competitive :)
What kind of SaaS or AI product is tiun best suited for right now?

@fletcher_oliver Thanks Fletcher! Right now, the sweet spot is small, technical teams that want to get from product to business quickly.
That can be pretty much any digital product: B2B or B2C SaaS, courses and education, templates or plugins, AI tools and API access, consulting services, or digital downloads.
Especially if you need auth, subscriptions or usage-based billing, customer management and global payments, but don’t want to build and maintain all of that infrastructure yourself.
We’re probably less interesting if you already have a mature stack with all of those pieces deeply integrated. But if you’re starting fresh or rebuilding parts of your backend, that’s where tiun really shines.
Given that auth, payment, and analytics are all rolled up into one, how flexible is each component in terms of customization vs. having an opinion on its own?

@aymi_malik Thanks! 🙏 We’re intentionally opinionated on some parts, especially where security, reliability and compliance are involved.
Auth is a good example: we have certain flows, checks and information that need to be in place to make sure we cover all states reliably. Today you can choose between light and dark mode, but you can’t fully customize the UI yet.
Payments are similar — there’s flexibility around how you price and monetize your product, but certain parts of the payment flow are standardized because we’re the MoR.
Over time, we definitely want to open up more customization. We just want to make sure we don’t trade reliability for flexibility while doing it.
What I can say is that we have some pretty exciting releases in the pipeline, especially around auth. So there’s definitely more flexibility coming :)

Great one, team! How does migration work for saas that already using Stripe or Clerk? Can tuin run alongside with the existing stack during the transition period?

@bdennis11907 Thanks Brandon! Yes — tiun can run alongside your existing stack while you migrate. You don’t have to rip out Stripe, Clerk, etc. all at once.
You can move over step by step and switch individual parts once you’re ready. The exact migration obviously depends a bit on your current setup, so for existing SaaS products we’re also happy to work with you directly on the transition.
We’re building more tooling around migrations as well, so this should get easier and easier over time.
