Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Srikar, a student at CU Denver, and I built TimeCapsules because I kept making promises I couldn't keep. The problem: Three years ago, my friends and I stood at a lookout point and said "let's come back here in 5 years." We never did. Life moved on, and we forgot. I realized this happens all the time - we make promises to revisit places, open letters on specific dates, or reconnect with people... and then we don't follow through. What I built: TimeCapsules forces you to wait. You literally cannot open a capsule early - the app won't let you. If you create one with friends, everyone has to be present in person to unlock it. You can also lock capsules to physical locations. Walk past a spot where someone left a memory 3 years ago, and you'll get notified. It's like geocaching, but for emotions. How it evolved: I started with just time-locked messages. Then I realized the real power was in accountability - making people show up IRL. So I added the "must be present together" feature. The location discovery came later when I thought: what if you could leave a piece of yourself at places that mattered, for strangers to find years later? What I learned: Building the "you can't open this early" enforcement was harder than I thought. People will try everything to bypass it. But that constraint is what makes it meaningful - if you could cheat, the whole point disappears. I launched 6 days ago with zero marketing budget. Just Reddit posts and word of mouth. 250+ downloads, 35% conversion rate, and the feedback has been incredible. I'd love to hear: What would you lock away right now?
