What do you think? …

Di.Serkin
How do they do it? As I know there is no way to post programmatically, no api method. @eddyroche please elaborate. :)
Arthur Chang
@diserkin I've seen some other apps do this. In a nutshell, you reverse engineer the endpoint for posting a photo.
Di.Serkin
@art_chang it is very risky. instagram can block your app sooner or later.
Seb
@diserkin so is being a large corporate not paying taxes in the US! ;o) Until Instagram open their API, perhaps we have to take a few calculated risks here and there..
Eddy Roche
@diserkin Thanks for your question. I will have to leave all technical Q's for our CTO, Seb. He can weigh in and answer questions where it makes sense to do so. As of now, we don't intend to reveal our entire methodology on public forums. Cheers

If they are not using the API, they'll probably be shut down if it takes off.
Di.Serkin
@karangoel agree. there is no api method. in case of massive posting they will be blocked for sure
Seb
@karangoel You are correct, "if it takes off" implies a number of challenges before then. Not dissimilar to any startup trying to change things for the better! We are confident however none of the Instagram terms are being violated, fear not.
Martin Skakala
When do you guys plan the release?
Seb
@mskakala for the time geing, the only way to get a front row seat is to register. We are currently letting people through, and general general availability should be announced... well.. soon? Just how soon is soon is more the question to be honest!
Eddy Roche
@mskakala Hi Martin. We're onboarding a limited number of users each week with the goal of keeping things exclusive and ensuring we are servicing each client as best we can before allowing more in. Sign up for an invite @ www.timeagram.com and we'll be sure to keep everyone in the loop with any changes in our strategy as we progress.
Saul Fleischman
@eddyroche please tell us why you are confident you wont be shut down - when Instagram notices you?
Eddy Roche
@osakasaul Hi Saul. Thanks for your interest. I think it's safe to say that Instagram knows about us and the other services like us. It's important to point out that we are not breaking Instagram's rules so there is no reason to believe we will be shut down. I'd love for you to take a peek at our platform sometime. I think you will agree that Insta scheduling is only a small part of the product we are offering. As we continue to expand and add more features, Instagram could potentially be removed entirely and we could still survive with the fantastic product our team has built. Cheers!
orliesaurus
instagram should just open their api endpoint :>
Seb
@orliesaurus upvote +1 like follow support approve back agree concur... unfortunately they have reasons not to, it seems!
Nate
Indeed, posting to Instagram via any app that is not, well, Instagram is prohibited by both Instagram end user terms of use and developer API terms of use. So as of right now, apps that post to Instagram might survive on a local market (there are a bunch of russian apps for that for example), but they all get banned on Instagram & Facebook as soon as they try marketing aggressively. Actually, there's a way for the developer to _not_ misuse the API (use a virtual machine running android which runs Instagram). That way, the developer uses customer's Instagram login & password to authenticate (and might as well store them), which is risky for the customer. And the customer's account might be banned for suspicious activity (logging in from different country/IP). So, yup, the feature is soooo much needed on the market, but I can't recommend using anything other that latergram.me for that.
Eddy Roche
@xnutsive Hi Nate, thanks for weighing in. You raise some interesting points however I must say that we've not experienced any security issues in our testing thus far. I couldn't agree more that the market is hungry for a service like ours. We've been overwhelmed with the response since we announced Timeagram. We'd love for you to test our product and explore our offerings... I think you and others are yet to see the many exciting and innovative features we offer in addition to Insta scheduling. Perhaps your recommendation may change! Cheers
