Tie Guy is a railway crossing safety app that uses GPS to detect when you are near an active rail crossing. It fires an instant high-volume, high-vibration alert to grab your attention before you reach the track. The app covers all freight, commercial, transit, and industrial rail lines across all 50 US states.
One thing that would make this even more useful for me would be adding a heads-up display mode that shows upcoming crossings on a map while driving, with distance countdown, so I can plan my route through areas with multiple tracks instead of just getting a last-second alert.
Love that this covers freight and industrial lines, those are the ones people forget about. One thing I'd love to see is a community report layer where users can flag new crossings, outdated crossings, or ones the app missed so the database stays accurate over time.
