A key difference between getting a web product seen in PH over HackerNews is that in PH there are plenty of members who are early adopters; in HN, it appears to be primarily engineers. And an engineer will look at your thing at decide:
(1) nothing to see here or
(2) I should build my own version of this
I think @ericwills has unique, deep insights on how distribution channels are getting bigger and cheaper/easier to access and penetrate. A book you can't miss before your next big launch.
