Does this work on your own git repo as well? Meaning I can connect to my own repo (not using a github.com one) and get this info from there?

it currently only works with github. I think there are a few other apps out there that can hook into a git repo, but The Hub's main focus is to notify you of new issues, pull requests, and comments, which are github specific.
