I think there are serious communications challenges for "The DAO", Slock.it, and Ethereum as a whole. Overlapping terminology is just way too confusing, and the overall marketing just doesn't do a good job of explaining the concepts to a layman.
But I think there is massive potential here that most people don't know about. It's already one of the largest crowdfunding campaigns ever. And there is the possibility that these contracts could fundamentally disrupt corporate governance and massive existing markets. Keep an eye on this!
