What do you think? …

I waited for this for such a long time! And I love you guys finally did that! But guys, to login I have to enter API access, 32-char hash for login, and 32-char hash for the password that I have to enter by my fingers via small mobile keyboard :-(
Nick Franklin
@sattu yes this is a big limitation and the first thing we'll be addressing. We'll add QR login (similar to WhatsApp's desktop app) or oAuth (or both). We considered waiting to release until that was there but thought it better to get this into your hands sooner and then add that improvement later. If you use a Mac then the near-field copy/paste can help speed up the need to type out the whole key.

@sattu @nick_franklin Even trying to select the API keys from Safari is... painful.
Scott Smith
@sattu @nick_franklin @stevenlu logging into the site on mobile and copy pasting the key/token was very quick and easy, no need for typing in directly!

We are happy to announce the launch of our brand new iPhone app. With it, you can check your core metrics on the go!
Giacinto Carlucci
Seems Cool! How different it is from a Stripe dashboard for those who are using this type of payments for subscriptions?
Nick Franklin
@giacintocarlucci ChartMogul is the leader in Subscription Analytics, there is a really long list of things you can do in ChartMogul that you can't do in any other product out there. Many of our customers use Stripe Billing and connect that up with ChartMogul for advanced analytics and subscription data related features to help them better understand their business, make data informed decisions around pricing, marketing, churn reduction, etc. and basically help them grow faster. I'd really recommend signing up for a free trial - https://chartmogul.com/ and connecting your Stripe account to see for yourself. ChartMogul is completely free for SaaS companies making under $10K MRR.

@giacintocarlucci @nick_franklin Oh I see, Thank you very much for the explanation!

Okay I'm going to be completely honest. I upvoted this launch before I actually checked out the app. But now I'm highly disappointed. We've been ChartMogul customers for at least a year or two now, paying $150 a month for in depth analytics. But with the endless amount of options for subscription analytics, you guys have to do better. Logging in with a 25+ character secret key AND password is a horrible user experience! And to make it worse, this longggggg awaited app has three basic metrics on a very bare dashboard. This should of been released privately in beta. Not as a long awaited feature for customers paying $150 a month. Sorry guys, this was not a product hunt worthy announcement at all.

@tim_samuel we've been CM customer for around 5 years now, we use enrichment, custom reports, have plenty of segments, etc... and I am super happy about this app - like what would you need more on your mobile - create custom reports? Sure it would be NICE to see other metrics, but it's not like you need to have a pulse on your churn or ARPA, they don't fluctuate that much, do they? ;) My use cases for the app at least are -check overall MRR for dopamine boost upon seeing a new customer alert on slack -when someone asks me what is the MRR or customer count more or less - I check the app to say more or less the exact figure :) Really don't expect more, imo this is just a fancy addon to what you can do with CM.
Tim Samuel
@tim_samuel @kamilrejent Hey Kamil, I completely respect your thoughts. With both of us being customers of the product, I think we both have valid points. But honestly speaking there is a LOT missing in this app. From the user experience, to how much you're able to drill down into the metrics showing. It's fine to say those are the only real KPI's needed on a phone which has some truth. But when you compare an analytics app like this to something like Google Analytic's app it's clear to see the difference. One feels like the product from a saas company empowering your business with lots of useful tools and data... and the other feels like someone's last minute weekend hackathon project. To put it simply and in terms I'm sure you'll understand... I doubt the CM's NPS for this app would be terribly low as I can say confidently that I would not recommend this app to any of my friends. - The actual full product is completely different story though!
Nick Franklin
@tim_samuel @kamilrejent I think you're both right. We have been focusing the vast majority (99%+) of our development resources on our core platform and web app. We made the iPhone app over the past couple of months as time allowed, it was actually a collaboration between our head of engineering, our creative director and myself. We could have delayed the launch and made the UX better (particularly the login), or added more features, but we felt the better things for our customers and ourselves was to get it out there sooner, then we have something our customers can use now, and something to improve upon based on feedback. Clearly the first thing to add is better login (via QR code or oAuth). Beyond that it comes down to functionality, and I think Kamil is quite spot on here, the real world use cases for the app are quite limited, and I believe it's better to have something very simple and elegant that nails these use cases very well (we're not there yet) rather than a bloated app that tries to do too many things. For me I'd like to see cash flow, trials, and the net MRR movement for this month and last month. Basically I want to remove the need to check the web app for 90% of 'checking' use cases. The other feature I'd like is the ability to switch between accounts, many of our users are execs or VCs involved with the running of multiple SaaS companies, so the ability to hot-switch between them on a mobile app would be awesome. Thanks both for the feedback, feedback is a gift. This is just the start, we could have waited and avoided some of the negative feedback, but we felt as this is a mobile app for checking metrics on the go, and not our core platform, it was better to launch earlier and then improve upon it in the new year.
