Turn your English texts and EPUB books into speaking practice. Listen, shadow sentences, record yourself, get pronunciation feedback, and compare individual words with your own voice. After a one-time speech-resource download, reading aloud, recording and pronunciation scoring work 100% offline—even in airplane mode. Your texts, recordings and scores stay on your device, not our servers. No account required. Android on Google Play. Free to start, with optional Pro.

Hi Product Hunt! I’m Jiu Pang Hoy, the creator of TextShadow.
I built it because understanding English at work and actually saying it out loud were two very different things for me. I wanted to practise the sentences I needed for my next meeting—not just work through another set of generic lessons.
TextShadow turns your own English text and EPUB books into a simple practice loop:
• Listen to a sentence, then record yourself saying it.
• Use pronunciation feedback to find words worth practising.
• Compare the reference pronunciation with the same word in your own recording.
• Repeat with material that matters to you.
After downloading the speech resources, reading aloud, recording and pronunciation assessment work 100% offline—even in airplane mode. Your texts, recordings and scores are processed on your device, not uploaded to our servers. No account is required.
The Android app is now available on Google Play. It’s free to start, with optional Pro access through an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
The iOS version is built and currently being tested. The macOS version is in development.
I’d love to hear what you would practise first: a paragraph from a book, something for work, or a sentence you’ve always found difficult to say?
@jiupanghoy EPUB support makes sense for this kind of app. Reading and speaking do not have to be separate activities, and turning a book into pronunciation practice is an appealing approach
