Hey everyone, I’m Austin. I founded TextKit and I’m based in Nashville.
I built TextKit because adding texting to a product was way more complicated than it needed to be. I also run another app that sends a lot of SMS, including 2FA codes and marketing messages. Writing the code to send a text took an afternoon, but getting everything around it working (10DLC brand and campaign registration, compliance) took weeks. We built tools to handle all of that for my other app, and that became TextKit.
It’s a simple SMS API for developers: send and receive texts, verify phone numbers, and buy local or toll-free numbers in the US and Canada.
A few things I wanted to do differently:
You can test the whole API without sending real texts.
We file your 10DLC registration for you instead of leaving you to figure it out.
STOP, START and HELP are handled automatically.
You can see what happened when a message fails or gets filtered.
Two-way texting, signed webhooks, SDKs and a CLI are there from day one.
If you hit a problem, you talk to an actual person.
There’s an MCP server, so TextKit works with Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.
Pricing starts at $0 a month. Texts are $0.002 each plus the carrier fee at cost, which is substantially cheaper per text than the big SMS APIs.
This is our first Product Hunt launch, so I’ll be around all day reading comments. If you’ve added SMS to an app before, what was the biggest pain point?
