Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built Tern CLI after repeatedly running into small environment issues that waste a surprising amount of development time. Things like: - missing ".env" variables - ports already being used - Node/package manager mismatches - Git and deployment configuration problems - AI coding agents that are installed but misconfigured - broken MCP server configs - “works on my machine, fails on VPS” situations Tern tries to put those checks behind a simple command: npx tern-cli doctor For AI coding environments: npx tern-cli agent It supports Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, and MCP diagnostics. A big priority for me was privacy: the core diagnostics run locally, and AI features are opt-in. Environment variable values and credentials are not included in diagnostic reports or AI requests. Tern is still at v0.1.0, so I’m mainly launching here to get feedback from developers using different systems and workflows. I’d especially love feedback on: - false positives - missing environment checks - CLI UX - Windows/macOS compatibility - AI agent & MCP detection Thanks for checking it out!
