Tenkai Launcher is an Android homescreen replacement designed around fluid, single-handed swipe navigation. Organize your apps and actions into nested circular menus, then swipe to open any of them instantly! But it doesn't stop there: conditionally show widgets and spaces, manage and save notifications for later directly from your homescreen, browse integrated news feeds, display live internet data, and trigger smart home devices. Everything you need, literally at your fingertips.

Hey everyone! 👋
The idea for Tenkai Launcher started in an unexpected place: video games. Years ago, I used "OPie", a World of Warcraft add-on that lets you bind spells and abilities to quick circular radial menus. A decade later, the concept hit me again: why don't we have something this fluid on mobile, where ergonomics and single-handed navigation matter most? Countless prototypes later, that thought evolved into Tenkai's nested pie system.
Coming from a background in computer science, networking, and infrastructure, I wanted to push what an Android launcher could actually do. Why just launch apps when your home screen could interact with your broader digital world? By baking HTTP requests into the core, you can fire webhooks (like controlling smart lights) directly from a gesture, or surface live API data (weather, server statuses, stocks) right on your screen.
Aside from that, I've thought about how to make Android more powerful and convenient, and developed other original ideas like the notifications manager, the catch-up system, the "tenkai capsules" and much more features that are unique to Tenkai.
Tenkai balances two philosophies:
Minimalist at its core:
Keep your screen clean and free of icon overload
Enjoy your wallpaper with just a few useful widgets and essentials.
Launch any app instantly by using an intuitive pie radial menu system.
Power-user flexibility under the hood: It covers all standard launcher essentials (multiple screens, custom icon packs, widgets, fast app drawer) plus advanced features:
Conditional spaces & widgets: Automatically show or hide spaces & widgets based on triggers and powerful rules (e.g., screen orientation, folding/unfolding a foldable device, or connecting to a specific Wi-Fi network).
Dynamic widget spaces: Bring up widget panels or icon sets on the fly via gestures, icons, or radial menus.
Custom contextual menus: Tailor quick actions to your workflow.
Built-in news reader: Includes Google News integration along with RSS and FreshRSS support for feed enthusiasts.
Notification hub & conversation bubbles: View, manage, and reply to notifications directly from the main interface.
Inbox / "Catch-Up" system: Postpone notifications, news articles, or quick notes to review later inside a dedicated menu or widget. Example: A friend messages you, you want to reply later, but don't want the notification cluttering your status bar, dismiss it from Android and push it to Catch-Up.
Smart Status & custom system widget: Display dynamic system data (battery, volume, media playback, DND, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) using lightweight pseudo-code and conditions. Includes a default "Smart Status" widget showing weather, upcoming alarms, silent mode, currently playing music, and more, all fully customizable.
Custom HTTP requests: Trigger webhooks and API calls directly (e.g., turn on smart home lights, automate Home Assistant entities, or display response data inside a widget -like Stock market-).
...and much more!
I’m thrilled to share this with the community, and I hope you have as much fun using it as we had building it!
